
The rule of thirds is when you place the emphasis of your picture on any of the intersections of a tic-tac-toe looking grid. By doing this, your picture will become more appealing. It also avoids putting the emphasis of your picture in the center, which would make the photo seem more like a snapshot. In my photography I used it by placing the pole going all the way from the top to the bottom of picture on the left line of the tic-tac-toe grid.
